So it’s all over the news guys; Amazon has decided that it’s not enough just to have a price check app that encourages undercutting your local toy store. They’re gone and offered a bounty, a 5% discount for anyone that aids in their corporate espionage, with the end goal of further undercutting any competition they might have.
I’d like to think that my neighbors and friends wouldn’t be so crass as to screw business owners who provide valuable services like in-store book readings and qualified employees that can recommend items and help out with little things that a web giant can’t provide. But apparently not; traffic on Amazon’s price check app tripled on December 10th, the day of the deal.
So the guys here at Taap.it thought it’d be nice to make Mom’s Boutique a little more competitive. In light of the new Amazon “Price Check” app, which is having devastating results on small businesses this holiday season, Taap.it is launching the “Not so Amaz-ing” campaign to counter Amazon and assist small businesses.
In order to drive consumer traffic to local vendors around the country, starting this week and extending through the holiday season, Taap.it will offer consumers $10 off on selected items purchased through the app or online and picked up locally. Local stores represent 99.7% of all employer firms, they keep our country running, we can’t turn our backs to them.
So waddya guys say to lending a hand and protecting the little stores that employee our poker buddies and keep tax dollars cycling in our neighborhoods to pay for public schools? Small business is good for more than just being Amazon’s showroom.
